Broadcast TV Fee
In recent years, the cost of re-transmitting broadcast television signals has increased significantly, and Fibercast is addressing recent increases through a separate itemized charge called the Broadcast TV Fee. Starting February 1, 2015, the monthly Broadcast TV Fee for Fibercast TV customers will increase to $3.25.
What is the Broadcast TV Fee?
Federal law allows local U.S. broadcast television stations (i.e., affiliates of networks such as CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, etc.) to negotiate with cable and satellite providers in order to obtain "consent" to carry their broadcast signals (Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992).
As a direct result of local broadcast, or "network-affiliated," TV stations increasing the rates to Fibercast to distribute their signals to our customers, we will be passing those charges on as a Broadcast TV Surcharge, in the Taxes and Fees section of the billing statement. These local TV signals were historically made available to Fibercast at no cost, or low cost. However, in recent years the prices demanded by local broadcast TV stations have necessitated that we pass these costs on to customers.
Why are you increasing this fee?
Broadcast retransmission costs are impacting all cable and satellite providers. From time to time, we need to increase our pricing to remain competitive.
Do other providers charge this type of fee?
Yes, some other providers charge a similar fee as well.

In October 2013 you received a letter from Springfield Cablevision announcing their discontinuation of cable TV services on December 31st, 2013. As the President of FiberCast Cable and on behalf of our team we are pleased to announce that with the kind cooperation of the City of Springfield we have acquired Springfield Cablevision and as of January 1st, 2014 will continue to provide Cable TV services as “Springfield Cable”.
In addition to the services you have come to value from Springfield Cable, we are excited to announce that we will be adding Digital and HD channels, ultra-high-speed internet and telephone services in the coming months. These new services will be made available to you and offered with the same cost conscience pricing structure expected from your community based communications provider. Please be on the lookout for exciting information about these new Springfield Cable services, promotions and bundles over the next several months.

Springfield Cable will be issuing your January 2014 billing statement which includes all charges starting from January 1st, 2014 and will continue on a monthly basis. If you choose to pay by mail, checks can be sent to:
